Changes are Coming Soon!

Faculty Mentors, student team members, and Evaluators have given valuable feedback for the first two years of this exciting competition.  In response to the information received some changes will be made to the competition.  This webpage will be updated by December 1, 2019 to reflect all of the rules for the 2020 competition.  The competition will still be held during the spring semester so start encouraging students to participate next year.  Feel free to browse through the pages now, on the current site, to get an overall sense of the competition if you are unfamiliar with it.  Be sure to check back in December for all of the new official rules and other helpful information.

The Student Research League (SRL) is a partnership between two-year college students and Faculty Mentors who are seeking STEM knowledge through an AMATYC approved research program. The Student Research League (SRL) will require AMATYC Faculty Mentors to sponsor a team of one to three mathematics students from their college to participate in addressing a designed research STEM Challenge Problem. The student(s) will have eleven days to complete the task.

The Student Research League's main goals are:

A) To encourage research problem solving and to motivate an interest in extracurricular mathematics activities among two-year college students, and

B) To reward outstanding student research problem-solvers through a scholarship and prizes to be given to the top participants, both individual and team, in League competition, and to recognize colleges with outstanding mathematics students through national awards.

New registrations are accepted beginning January 1st of the competition year. All registrations (including applicable fees) must be received by March 15th of the competition year.
